Product Details
+Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII German Wehrmacht (Heer) Aluminum EM/NCO's Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß) with an original rare 1937-dated black finished rubberized canvas belt. This is the first example of one of these rare and very durable belts that we have had.
The buckle is embossed with the Heer motto GOTT MIT UNS ("God (is) with us") around the Wehrmacht Reichsadler (State Eagle). Nice aluminum construction box buckle with a pebbled background. The buckle is in good condition, and is a single piece injection molded and crimped example. It does show surface wear, common due to the softer aluminum alloy. This buckle was originally entirely painted standard Heer gray, however the front of the buckle is missing almost all of this. The rear has much more present, probably 75% retained, and is marked R. S. & S. by the securing loop, for Richard Sieper & Söhne of Lüdenscheid, a city with a very large garment accessories industry. The leather tab is unfortunately missing.
The rubberized canvas belt is in very good condition, and measures about 32 3/4" when fully extended. It is also marked 85 on the buckle end, for 85cm (33.5in), so it my have shrunk a bit over time. The adjustment tab with 7 double holes is made from leather, and has a full maker mark and date on it:
